The short answer

1-800-GOT-JUNK is the best-known brand in this business and they do the job properly. Their model is a volume estimate given on site: a crew arrives, looks at your pile, and quotes against how much of the truck it fills.

Ours is the same underlying logic with the estimate moved to the front. Every item has a published price and every truck fraction has a published price, so you can build the number yourself before anyone is dispatched.

That is the whole comparison. Same work, different moment of truth.

Why the moment matters more in Houston

This metro is spread across counties and an hour of traffic. When a quote only exists after a truck has driven from the other side of the Beltway, saying no is awkward for everyone — the crew has spent the morning getting to you, and you have spent it waiting in.

Move the number to the front and that pressure disappears. You look at it on your phone in the kitchen, decide, and book or do not. Nobody drives across Harris County for a conversation.

The numbers, published

WhatOur price
Sofa / Couch$126
Mattress — Queen$103
Refrigerator (Standard)$164
Washer$133
Treadmill$115
Hot Tub / Spa$390
Quarter truck$241
Half truck$431
Full truck$732

Minimum $75 per visit. Disposal included. No stair charge, no walk-up fee, no same-day surcharge, no distance surcharge anywhere in the metro.

What is the same

Both take the item from wherever it is rather than asking you to drag it to the curb. Both are insured, which matters in Houston mid-rises and Galleria-area buildings where management wants a certificate on file before a crew touches a freight lift. Both sort rather than simply tipping everything.

If your question is “can they do the job”, the answer for either is yes. The question worth asking is what you will be paying, and when you will find out.

Where a published price is worth the most

Landlords and property managers. You need a number for a budget on Monday, for a unit you have not walked. Photographs in, fixed price back, no renegotiation at the door.

Out-of-state heirs. A great many Houston estate calls come from another state against a closing date. You are trusting a quote you cannot verify by standing in the room, which is a much easier thing to do when the quote is built from a public list.

Storm weeks. After a serious Gulf storm, everyone in the affected band needs a truck in the same two weeks. Nobody wants to spend that week comparing verbal estimates. A published ladder lets you book the volume you need and move on.

A worked Houston job

Say it is a ground-floor room in Meyerland after water: a sofa, a queen mattress and box spring, a chest of drawers, and the carpet out of one room.

$126 + $143 + $126 + $71 = $466. That sits above the half-truck tier, so you would be quoted the half truck at $431 instead, and that is the figure you would pay.

You can do that arithmetic yourself, from the list, at any hour, without anybody in your driveway.

How to decide

If you want a national name with a long track record and you are comfortable with an on-site estimate, book them — it is a real service and it works.

If you would rather see the number first, keep it fixed, and pay nothing extra for three flights of exterior stairs at a Sharpstown complex or a drive out to Fulshear, book us.

Frequently asked questions

What is the actual difference between JunkRabbit and 1-800-GOT-JUNK?

When you find out the price. Theirs is estimated on site by the crew; ours is published upfront by item and by truck fraction, and it does not change when the crew arrives.

Do you charge more for stairs or distance in Houston?

No. No stair charge, no walk-up fee, and the same published price whether your address is inside the Loop or out past the Grand Parkway.

Can I get a price without anyone visiting?

Yes. Build it from the published item list or the truck ladder, or send photographs and we will confirm a fixed number before dispatch.

Are you insured for Houston high-rise buildings?

Yes. We can put a certificate of insurance on file with building management, which most Galleria-area and Medical Center buildings require before allowing a crew on the freight lift.

What does a single sofa cost?

$126, carried from wherever it is, disposal included. The visit minimum is $75.
